HMA Meeting: February 24 2010

Below you will be able to see the meeting minutes for the Hospitality Management Association’s meeting that occurred on February 24, 2010:

1. Cooking Demo
   1. Scheduled to happen March 26^th at 12-2pm
   2. Turning in request to SGA tomorrow to attempt for funding.
   3. Advertisement to the newspaper
   4. Intend to do economy five items or less on march 26, and then do the farmers market in April when food is more available
   5. Make menu, cook three course meal, and provide them with pricing information in organic and regular venues, explain the benefits of eating organic and canning.
   6. Maybe get the horticultural majors involved.
   7. Scarlett and Andrea are creating this menu; March 1
2. Second cooking demo
   1. Will be on April 23^rd
   2. Will be focused on farm to fork methods such as: canning, sausage making, proper freezing methods and include a possible farmers market.
3. Networking and Appreciation Function
   1. Scheduled for May 8^th

To Do List

1. Talking about taking students to the NRA Show, need to decide on this so we can write a proposal to SGA.
2. Check out IPFWHMA.wordpress.com
3. GFS spring show is coming up; that is on the blog.
4. Get students to sign picture waiver
5. Use the board in neff

HMA Meeting: January 20 2010

Here are the some of the points of discussion that were covered in our meeting on January 20, 2010:

Positions

• Kelly Sanserino – President
• Jesse Johnson – Vice President
• Andrea Socha –  Secretary
• Lynda Warner –  Event Coordinator
• Scarlett Melton – Treasurer

NRA Show

• We have not been invited back yet; but if we are it will be around May 22-25.
• If we are invited back we need to check our budget for eating and sleeping.
• Maybe we would like to get students to go on a bus?

Cooking Demo

• Looking to do about 3 more;
• Open to entire campus; need to write a proposal to SGA
• Next meeting will be with Dr. Niser so we can set dates for these.
• Need to check on FDA w/ wild game
• Ideas: Hors d’ouevres day, dessert day, etc.

Student Waiver

• This is so pictures can be put on the blog and whatever else needs used.
• Kelly is doing this, she will be getting copies to prof’s so students will sign.

Hoosier Hospitality Conference

• Dan O’Conell wants some ushers for this event
• Have Susan email Megan Flohr to get volunteers for this event.
• Tickets are $25 to attend if you do not want to usher.
